Correlation between Socio-Economic Characteristics and Housing Quality of Residential Neighbourhoods in Akure, Southwest Nigeria

There is a general paucity of explanations for the emerging social and spatial changes in pattern socio-economic traits urban residential housing units Nigeria. Hence, this study examined neighbourhoods; assessed quality units; evaluated correlation between position respondents Akure, Data were derived from household questionnaire, remotely sensed data (Landsat 8 OLI/TIR, 2021), Google Earth map, Street Map Akure Township, personal observations. The adopted step-wise sampling technique to select 383 samples 139,069 heads households 2021. analysed using percentage distribution, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, t-test. Results indicated varying qualities across three zones Nigeria; houses low-density areas better than other zones. occupied was influenced by type occupation, level education average annual income residents. concluded that inadequate facilities are fundamental observed deteriorating area.
